Tindall Engineering has cemented their position as the UK’s market leader in High Security Locking Solutions by adding BS EN 1670:2007 – Grade 5 ‘Exceptionally High Corrosion Resistance’ accreditation to their extensively tested and approved ranges.

The BS EN 1670:GR5 corrosion test is one that many hardware manufacturers avoid due to the extreme test criteria and the negative effects that it has on their choice of standard construction materials.

To reach this standard the test materials must be submerged in a neutral salt spray test cabinet for 480 hours to replicate severe outdoor corrosive conditions.

At Tindall Engineering, we manufacture our products using the highest grades of materials, ensuring our corrosion resistant solutions perform in the most severe corrosive environments.

With over 80% of the UK exposed to high atmospheric corrosion, standard door hardware just wouldn’t be able to withstand the elements over any length of time and depending on the location could soon start to become subject to corrosion and rusting.

Initially this would result in poor aesthetic appearance, but over time could result in operational failure of the door hardware, resulting in a possible breach of operational integrity, or even risk to life safety.

Every MICO product is manufactured to meet BS EN 1670 – Grade 5 classification as standard, and this unparalleled level of corrosion resistance does not come at an additional premium.

This makes MICO products ideal for off-shore and coastal applications, power and utilities, water, chlorine and other highly corrosive hostile environments.

Classifications for BS EN 1670:2017 and examples of service conditions for which the various grades of corrosion resistance are appropriate:
