TROUBLESHOOTING
Panic Bolts
| Symptom |
Remedy |
| 1. Push plate/pad loose on bracket. |
Check restrictor plate fitted.
Tighten securing screw behind pad. |
| 2. Bottom locking bolt dragging on the floor. |
Adjust top locking shoot. Lock into position. |
| 3. Threaded rod visible at top of the panic bolt. |
Remove top tripping bracket & retrieve top locking shoot.
Adjust top locking shoot and lock into position. |
| 4. Locking bolts are not held retracted. |
Ensure free movement of top tripping arm. |
| 5. Bolts will not shoot when external knobset fitted. |
Re-align locking knobset. |
| 6. Panic bolt stiff to operate. |
Check alignment of push plate.
Check steel liner fitted to top catch bracket.
Check that finger trap plate operating freely. |
| 7. Top & bottom bolts not shooting 19mm. |
Adjust top locking shoot. |
| Mechanism bracket loose. |
Re-secure with locking washers. |
Panic Latches
| Symptom |
Remedy |
| 1. Push plate/pad loose on bracket. |
Check restrictor plate fitted.
Tighten securing screw behind pad. |
| 2. Panic latch stiff to operate. |
Check alignment of push plate.
Check finger trap plate operating freely.
Check horizontal alignment of spindle
Ensure angled strike plate is used. |
| 3. Latchbolt not retracting fully. |
Ensure correct lockcase is used (8761,8762 or 8759).
Check spindle follower extends through lockset.
Check mounting plate has been installed. |
| 4. Push plate limp in operation. |
Check installation of hinge bracket spring. |
| 5. Latchbolt fails to retract. |
Check correct follower (with spring assembly) fitted. |
| Mechanism twisting. |
Ensure door mounting plate is fitted. |
